Brownies

  • 1 cup vegan chocolate chips, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) Melt Butter Sticks
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tbsp natural red food dye
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  •  

Vegan Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 4 oz. vegan cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Melt Butter Sticks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Melt chocolate chips in microwave for one minute, mix until fully melted together, and set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat sugar, Melt Butter Sticks, and applesauce until combined. Add vanilla extract, food dye, and water and mix well. Then add dry ingredients and melted chocolate. Mix until combined.
  4. In a small bowl, combine vinegar and baking soda, mix, and then combine with batter.
  5. Line an 8” x 8” pan with parchment paper and grease. Pour batter into pan and tap to settle.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool completely. Chill in fridge.
  8. In separate bowl, beat 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Melt Butter Sticks and 4 oz. vegan cream cheese about 2-3 minutes.
  9. Add salt and 1 tsp vanilla extract, mix until combined.
  10. Sift in 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time. Chill in fridge for half an hour.
  11. When brownies are cool, spread frosting on top and decorate with desired toppings.
